Born in South Africa in 1987, Reggie Khumalo is a rising artist on the African and international art scene. Working professionally as an artist since 2017, he currently lives and works between Zanzibar, Tanzania, and London, UK. His practice is deeply informed by his extensive travels across Africa, including a motorcycle journey from Cape Town to Cairo through 13 countries, during which he encountered diverse communities and cultures.
Inspired by the philosophy of Ubuntu and these encounters, Khumalo has developed a portrait-based practice characterized by vibrant colours, patterns, and memory-bearing textiles. His work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions, as well as at international art fairs across Africa, Europe, and the United States. He also collaborates with humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations World Food Programme.
