    Julien Boily

Dotted with references to the history of painting, the world of entertainment and the world of digital technologies, Julien Boily’s paintings unfold as an attempt to strike a balance between the past, the present and the future. To do so, Boily generates virtual compositions whose elements are chosen according to their properties to interact with their environment: light, perspective, reflection, refraction and many others. Emulated by the digital tool, these attributes are then re-examined by the artist in pictorial works seeking to highlight the specificities related to the image generated by 3D infographics as well as to question still life as a genre and a practice in constant evolution.
