    Charles-Frédérick Ouellet

    Born in Chicoutimi in 1981, Charles-Frédérick Ouellet holds a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from Université Laval (2023). His practice combines photography, videography, installation, and publishing. At the intersection of documentary, investigation, and storytelling, his work unfolds through field research where geographic spaces, displacements, and contemporary odysseys intertwine.

    For the past fifteen years, he has explored the power of natural elements through photographic series such as Le Naufrage (2010–2017), Landfall (2021), and Coexistence (2019–2023). His most recent project, Ligne de foudre (2023), earned him the World Press Photo Image of the Year Award in 2024 for the North and Central America region.

    His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He is also the author of four photography books, the most recent of which, To Winter There, was published by Loco in France. His practice has been supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and the Canada Council for the Arts, and his works are now included in several public and private collections.
