    Alissa Bilodeau

Guided by the ecological concept of habitat, Alissa Bilodeau develops her projects through the use of fibre and metals. Working across sculpture, photography, and textile installations, her practice is fundamentally rooted in craft. This approach gives rise to works that reflect on notions of the path, abundance, and the obsessive repetition of gesture, as exemplified in the practice of crochet.

Originally from Lambton in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, Alissa Bilodeau lives and works in Quebec City. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual and Media Arts from Université Laval, as well as a Diploma of Collegial Studies in Sculpture from La Maison des métiers d’art de Québec. Her career includes solo and group exhibitions in both France and Quebec. She has received several awards and grants, including the Première Ovation Public Art Mentorship Grant, and has also been shortlisted for the Art and Culture Excellence Award of the Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches regions.
