From June 5 to July 3, 2024, Annie Baillargeon presents an exhibition at Centre Phi entitled “Cosmology of Mutations”. This exhibition brings together the latest research Annie carried out in collaboration with various community groups during a six-month residency on site. The project also includes the presentation of two collaborative performances.
“The installation “Cosmology of Mutations” draws on the notion of somatheque, developed by philosopher Paul B. Preciado, to create an archive of bodies and states of joy. A world away from standardized representations, the artist invites participants to form this archive by taking part in workshops aimed at reappropriating devices normally used for surveillance – security cameras, smartphones, cameras, ID card or passport photographs. The photographs resulting from these workshops are integrated by the artist into a large video mosaic, which brings together everyone’s individual contributions into a pulsating, vivid image, as well as into a sky map composed of recycled paper, made by the artist in collaboration with the retaille workshop and activated in a performative gesture.” (Source: Centre Phi)
