Chiguer art contemporain is proud to announce that, following its presentation in the Novalis Terra exhibition at Mus\u00e9e La Piscine – mus\u00e9e d’art et d’industrie Andr\u00e9-Diligent in Roubaix, France, Laurent Craste’s Vase Saint-S\u00e9bastien III (2021) has entered the permanent collection of this prestigious institution.<\/p>\n

“Perched on its marbled porcelain column, and recalling the figure of a Saint Sebastian martyred by the arrows of Roman soldiers, an Empire-style spindle-shaped vase seems to deflate as it is pierced by darts with wings stamped with the American flag. In this position, his gold palmettes, placed upside down, are more reminiscent of tears than of imperial symbols, and the whole of his figure expresses a moral as well as a physical collapse. Is this a metaphor for civilizational decline?”<\/p>\n

Founded in 1835, the Mus\u00e9e La Piscine is a meeting place for the applied and fine arts.
