For its first edition, the Festival à deux têtes is proud to present the exhibition Planter le décor by Martin Bureau, featuring a selection of Martin’s works that bear witness to his extensive and invaluable collaboration with the musical world. In fact, for more than 25 years, Martin Bureau has been collaborating as a visual artist with musicians he admires and whose music has set the pace in his studio work, like milestones through his past.

“When I revisit my albums covers, I remember exactly when and in which studio the original work was created and what period of life I was in. So, to have the privilege to bring together more than twenty of these paintings, otherwise scattered across the province of Quebec, feels like reuniting with old friends again. I owe the origin of these collaborations to my friend Fred Fortin, who one day in 1995, while I was still a visual arts student, asked me to design the cover of his first record. Since then, in addition to Fred, my painting, photographic and video images have accompanied Galaxie, Tire le coyote, Les Cowboys Gringants, Gros Mené, Robert Charlebois, WD-40, Les chiens, Louise Forestier, Stephen Faulkner and Érick d’Orion, among others.

The opportunity provided by this exhibition prompted me to reflect on our paths, our professional and personal encounters, and to realize just how multifaceted, magnificent and decisive they have been. ”
